TechPark CV Officially Opens: Cabo Verde’s Leap into the Global Digital Economy

Cabo Verde has taken a bold step toward becoming a leading digital hub in Africa with the inauguration of the Parque Tecnológico Arquipélago Digital, also known as TechPark CV. This state-of-the-art facility, officially launched on May 5, 2025, is a testament to the country’s commitment to digital transformation and technological innovation.

A Vision for a Digital Future

The TechPark CV is designed to position Cabo Verde as a global digital center, attracting startups, established tech firms, and international investors. With an investment of €51.85 million, largely funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the park already hosts 23 companies from seven countries, employing over 300 young professionals.

Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva emphasized that the park is more than just an infrastructure project—it is a strategic move to integrate Cabo Verde into the global digital economy. The government aims to export tech services, foster digital inclusion, and train local talent to compete on an international scale.

Cutting-Edge Facilities and Opportunities

The park features:

  • A data center to support cloud computing and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Incubation zones for startups to develop and scale their innovations.
  • A training center offering courses in AI, cybersecurity, and software development.
  • Tax incentives to attract foreign investment and encourage local entrepreneurship.

Since its operational launch in November 2023, the park has rapidly expanded its training programs from six to fifty, qualifying nearly 2,800 professionals in various tech disciplines.

Cabo Verde’s Role in Africa’s Digital Economy

The African Development Bank’s president, Akinwumi Adesina, hailed the project as a symbol of Africa’s digital potential, noting that the continent’s digital economy could contribute $180 billion to Africa’s GDP by 2025. He also praised Cabo Verde’s resilience in bringing this vision to life despite initial skepticism.

The government’s strategy includes leveraging diaspora talent, integrating the informal economy into the digital space, and ensuring sustainable tech growth. The park’s success is expected to attract more international firms, further solidifying Cabo Verde’s reputation as a tech powerhouse in the Atlantic.

Looking Ahead

With plans to expand its reach, including a new tech hub in São Vicente, TechPark CV is set to redefine Cabo Verde’s economic landscape. The initiative underscores the country’s ambition to lead Africa’s digital revolution, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable development.

Cabo Verde’s digital transformation is no longer just a vision—it’s a reality. The Parque Tecnológico Arquipélago Digital is a beacon of progress, proving that “small” nations can make a big impact in the global tech ecosystem.
