Is Uber Eats Finally Delivering to Ghana?
Foodies in Ghana rejoice! There’s been a rumbling in the tech world and delivery space in Ghana for a while now especially following the exist of Glovo from the shores of the country. But part of the rumbling has to do with the possible arrival of Uber Eats.
A Saturated Market with Room for More?
While ride-hailing giant Uber already operates in Ghana, its food delivery arm, Uber Eats, has yet to make an official entrance. The Ghanaian food delivery scene is already bustling with services like MenuFinder, Shaq Express and Bolt Food. So,would Uber Eats bring something new to the table (or plate)?
The Uber Eats Advantage
Here’s what could give Uber Eats an edge:
- Brand Recognition: Uber is a household name globally, and its established user base might translate to a smoother adoption of Uber Eats.
- Delivery Network: Uber’s existing network of drivers could be readily utilized for food deliveries, potentially leading to faster delivery times.
- Global Reach: Partnering with established restaurants and incorporating international chains could broaden the variety of options available to Ghanaian users.
A Whisper of Rumors
In 2021, there were talks of Uber Eats launching in Ghana, possibly facing stiff competition from existing players.However, no official announcement has been made since. Yet today 9th May 2024, from the screenshots attached below, it is evident Uber Ghana is making way to allow its food delivery branch enter the Ghanaian market. As to when they officially arrive, it’s still up to speculations and no official confirmation.

The Verdict: Still Waiting
As of May 2024, there’s no confirmation of Uber Eats setting up shop in Ghana. While whispers and speculation continue,Ghanaians looking for a wider variety of food delivery options might have to stick with the existing services for now.
